Sean Taylor

A bag snatcher has been jailed after confronting a woman in Darlington in November, last year.

Sean Taylor approached the woman along Powlett Street in the early hours of Wednesday (November 30).

He pulled the bag from across the woman’s chest and ran off from the scene clutching her belongings.

Taylor was spotted just hours after the incident by an officer who noticed the suspect acting suspiciously near to Darlington hospital.

On searching Taylor, officers found the victim’s bank card which was later seized and returned to her.

The 32-year-old was charged with robbery and appeared at Teesside Crown Court yesterday (January 3) where he was handed a 27-month custodial sentence.

Detective Sergeant Lee Foster, from Darlington CID said: “This was an extremely frightening incident for the victim who was understandably shaken.

“Thankfully, we were able to identify Taylor swiftly, make an arrest and get him put behind bars for the new year.”
