Helen Corner

Meet PC Helen Corner. Helen joined the force in April 2020, aged 37.

1. What did you do before you joined?

My previous role was spent working at BGL group for 20 years in a management role in insurance.

2. Has the job been what you expected?

The job has been what I expected and more!

3. Can you remember your first arrest?

My first arrested was for a domestic violence related assault and criminal damage and the guy was suffering with mental health issues.

4. Do you have any jobs that are particularly memorable to you and why?

Memorable jobs would be supporting people in their most vulnerable and desperate times and making a real difference. I was involved with a stalking job where he was given a 3-year restraining order, 11 weeks in prison and ordered to pay £600 which made me feel very proud. I also caught a burglar on scene and protected an elderly male.

5. How have you found the job fits in with your personal life?

I find the job does work with my family life having two children means I have time off during the day also midweek and rest days midweek to help with school runs.

6. What advice would you give to other people thinking of applying?

My advice to others would be to go for it!

7. If you could sum up the job/your experience in three words what would they be?

Satisfying. Thrilling. Different.

Think you could be the next Helen Corner?

Application are open until 5pm on Friday, January 24.
