Not so fast.

Two teenagers got a shock in the early hours of Sunday morning when they were hunted down by Durham’s Road and Armed Policing C Relief officers after a woman’s motorbike was stolen from her home in Middleton St George.

The bike failed to stop and was pursued back up to Darlington before the suspects went 'off road' and the rider and pillion passenger made off.

But that didn’t deter PCs Murphy and Hawman who gave chase on foot and managed to apprehend the duo as well as recover the bike.

A 19-year-old man and 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of theft, dangerous driving, failing to stop and having no licence or insurance.

An investigation is currently ongoing and the bike will be returned to its rightful owner.

Did you know Crimestoppers are offering a £1,000 reward for any information given anonymously, either online or by calling 0800 555 111, which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
