Description

Durham Constabulary is one of the top-performing police forces in the UK. We have an exciting opportunity for a customer focused and resilient Front Counter Clerk to work at the forefront of locality police stations.

As Front Counter Clerk you will be the first point of contact for a wide range of customer enquiries and queries. You will be responsible for providing an effective, efficient and helpful service to visitors and members of the public attending the Police Office, as well as performing a range of administrative tasks within the front counter and administrative office.

Candidates should have a good telephone manner and possess excellent interpersonal skills.  The ability to collect, check and evaluate information, together with at least 3 months clerical experience is also requested. 

It should be noted that Front Counter Clerks may sometimes be required to work for long periods on their own dealing with a wide range of members of the public with difficult and challenging issues. Applicants are therefore expected to demonstrate personal resilience when dealing with such situations.

Locations: 

REF 222/22 - Darlington Police Station, Part Time, Scale 3 - £10,874 - £11,567 per annum, 20 hours per week, working Monday – Thursday 1pm – 6pm.

REF 243/22 - Consett Police Station, Part Time, Scale 3 - £10,874 - £11,567 per annum, 20 hours per week, working Monday – Friday 10am-2pm, 1pm-5pm alternate weeks. 

REF 10/23 - Durham City Police Station, Full Time, Scale 3 - £21,432 - £22,677 per annum, 37 hours per week. 

                                       

Qualifications / Experience Test

4 G.C.S.E. levels (Grade 9 to 4/A to C) including English Language or Literature and Math’s or an approved equivalent.

If you possess an equivalent qualification you must clearly outline this on your application.  Failure to do say may result in your application not being progressed.
