Community Schemes

If you are organising a local community event please remember to contact the relevant council’s Safety Advisory Group for advice, guidance and support to ensure the event goes safely. You can find details on both the Durham County Council and Darlington Council websites.

In Bishop Auckland Neighbourhood Watch is currently celebrating the first anniversary of its sister group Allotment Watch in the Woodhouse Ward. When the scheme was introduced in early 2011 advice was given to each member about security and Smartwater was issued to each plot. This, together with good media coverage and patrols by local officers, has meant that the scheme has been a great success. Further schemes are now in place at the allotments on South Church Road and the Pollards site in Bishop Auckland.
