Chester-le-Street

Chester Le Street

Chester-le-Street policing area covers the former Chester-le-Street District Council area, bordering Tyne and Wear to the North East and the former County Durham districts of Derwentside and City of Durham to the West and South.

The 24 hour police presence in the area is at the Chester-le-Street Police Station, with smaller stations in Pelton and Sacriston which are not staffed on a 24 hour basis.

The A1(M) travels through the eastern side of the area providing links with Tyneside to the North and Durham City/Teeside to the South.  Wearside and the coast are only a few miles to the East.  The Riverside cricket ground is a major attraction for sports and other events.

We are improving the way we engage with you via PACT (police and communities together). It may mean some poorly attended PACT meetings are cancelled, but alternative ways to engage will be introduced instead. It could see your neighbourhood PC or PSCO visiting places like the local library, baby groups, post office, sports classes or even the pub to hear your views.  Visit your neighbourhood policing team website page or Facebook and Twitter feeds for the latest details.

Dave Coxon

INSP 1152 David Coxon

My name is Dave Coxon, Neighbourhood Inspector for Chester Le Street. My aim is to make Chester Le Street a safer place to live, work and visit. To achieve this, I believe it is important to work as a team, not only within our own organisation but with partners and the community, themselves. We will look to improve confidence and provide reassurance, by listening to the public and address problems together, as 'together we will make a difference'.
