Neighbourhood Watch is a nationally recognised crime prevention initiative which encourages communities to work together to address local concerns.
Each scheme is different in that it is shaped by the community it serves and run by a community volunteer supported by a local police community liaison officer.
Being part of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme could not only reduce crime where you live but also entitle you to a reduction in your home insurance premium.
Over ¼ of all houses in Co Durham and Darlington are members of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme. That’s about 62,500 homes and over 100,000 people!
All over the area residents are getting together to say “No” to Crime, Anti -Social Behaviour, Graffiti and Littering and “Yes” to Safe and Active Communities.
Why not join them? If you wish to find out more, please visit www.ourwatch.org.uk ( or to join an existing scheme or set up a new one contact your local Community Liaison Officer or your local Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator Neil Langthorne by dialling the non-emergency number 101.
