£96,000 worth of drugs seized in Darlington

 26/08/2020

Over the past week, we have seized around £96,000 worth of Class B drugs from properties in Darlington.

Three warrants were carried out by officers from the neighbourhood team at properties in Alston Moor Close, Hopetown Lane and Montrose Street.

They were carried out as a direct result of intelligence received from the local community on potential drug use and drug dealing in their areas.

As well as seizing the drugs, officers also submitted safeguarding reports concerning drug use and children.

Leaflets were delivered to neighbouring properties and posters were put up informing the local community of the operation.

Sergeant James Woodcock, from Darlington Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “Illegal drugs blight our communities and can cause untold damage to both those that use them, and the wider community who suffer from the resulting crime - tackling them is a key priority for us.

“This operation was carried out after members of the public came forward with intelligence surrounding possible drug use in their area.

“Information like this is vital in our fight against illegal drugs, and we would encourage anyone with any information on drug use in their area to contact us on 101.

“You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
