‘Unsung heroes’ of the force are praised for their continued support

Jim Taylor and Margaret Toward, from the Welfare team were presented with WOW Awards at a ceremony last week.

Jim and Margaret were nominated for the award by PC Tracy Cornfield who was diagnosed with PTSD in October, 2016.

Tracy said: “I was diagnosed after attending a number of horrific incidents whilst working as a response officer - this led to a lengthy time away from work.

“From the outset, Margaret was there for support and arranged for me to attend specialist therapy – without it I would not be in the position I’m in today.”

Jim and Margaret are both based at headquarters where they work tirelessly to support staff in the organisation day in day out.

Tracy continued: “Returning to work in a new role with people I did not know was really tough for me. I’m not ashamed to say that I had many days of tears. However this was when I met Jim.

“He is the most calm, reassuring man I have ever met, he just knows when someone needs a chat and is quite happy to walk circles around the car park with you talking it out and providing a supportive ear.

“Both Margret and Jim are very special people.”
