Appeal after man dies following collision


A MAN has died following a collision near Ferryhill.
The collision happened at 6.40pm on Sunday, December 3.
A car was travelling north on Pine Road, Ferryhill, from the village towards East Howle when it collided with a male pedestrian.
Despite medical intervention by the emergency services the pedestrian sadly died at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours to allow emergency services to attend the scene.
The identity of the pedestrian is still not known at this stage and the police are keen establish who he is.
Sergeant Simon Kestle, from Cleveland & Durham Specialist Operations Unit said: “If anyone has any concerns about someone they know who they cannot contact or has any idea who this male might be then we urge them to get in touch.”
The pedestrian is described as a white male in his 40s or 50s with short greying hair wearing a jacket and shorts with blue suede Adidas trainers.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the man walking along Pine Road prior to the accident is asked to call the collision unit on 0191 375 2159 or 101 quoting incident 372 of December 3.
