Jail for prolific burglar and car thief

A PROLIFIC thief who committed 83 offences across the north of England has been jailed for eight years.

Bradley Dyer admitted the burglary and car theft offences, which he committed as part of a group and stretched across Durham, Cleveland Humberside and West Yorkshire.

Eight of the burglaries were committed in Sedgefield in early December last year.

The 24-year-old broke into a number of properties and stole keys to high value cars, including an Audi R3 and BMW 3 Series GT, which were parked outside.

Detectives from Humberside Police worked closely with officers from Durham Constabulary, as well as the Cleveland and West Yorkshire forces, to bring Dyer to court.

Dyer, of Corporation Street, Stockton, appeared before Hull Crown Court earlier this week where he was jailed for eight years.

Temporary Inspector Alex Clarke, from Sedgefield Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “Dyer is a prolific thief who, as part of a group, committed high value burglaries across the north of England, including here in Sedgefield.

“I hope residents feel reassured that he has been brought to justice and is now off the streets and behind bars.

“These convictions are the result of a complex police investigation involving a number of forces across the region, including officers from Bishop Auckland CID whose thorough and meticulous enquiries were instrumental in securing the conviction of Dyer.”
