Men in court following violent confrontation in Darlington

Two men have appeared at court in connection with an alleged incident which left a man with life-changing injuries.

Dean Nicholson, 25, and Leroy Hewitt, 41, both appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court today (January 21) charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Mr Nicholson, of Flamingo Close, Darlington, and Mr Hewitt, of Pateley Moor Crescent, Darlington, did not enter any pleas and were remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Crown Court on February 18.

The pair were arrested following a police operation yesterday (January 20) and charged early this morning.

During the alleged incident, which happened on August 23 last year in Darlington, a violent confrontation is said to have occurred in a flat on Woodland Terrace.

Fearing for his life, the victim – a man in his forties – jumped around 25ft out of a window, leaving him with numerous injuries, including two broken legs and multiple fractured ribs.
