Message for driver who left phone with police

“We have your mobile phone” – that’s the message from Consett cops to the driver of a vehicle which made off from officers.

Durham Constabulary PCs attempted to stop a beige coloured Volkswagen Golf on Watling Street, Leadgate, Consett at 2.15am on December 2.

The driver failed to stop for police and was pursued to Stocksfield where it crashed into a dry stone wall.

The three occupants fled from the vehicle and evaded police.

PC Martain Anderson from Consett Police said: “We are appealing for the driver and occupants to come forward to speak to us about this incident and to collect the mobile phone they kindly left behind. Contact us via 101 quoting reference 44 of December 2.”
