 Pedestrian in hospital after being knocked down by a van


A pedestrian is in hospital with serious injuries after being knocked down by a van last night.

A woman, in her 50’s who lives locally, remains seriously ill in hospital following the incident which took place on Cockton Hill Road, Bishop Auckland at around 5pm last night (November 15).

She was struck by the van, a Vauxhall Movano containing just the driver, as the van turned right onto Acacia Road.

Fire and Ambulance crews assisted in removing the injured woman from under the vehicle before taking her to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

A spokesman for Durham Constabulary, said: “We would like to hear from any witnesses who were in the area at the time or to anyone with dash cam footage to come forward who have not already spoken to Police.”
