 Police appeal following robbery at cashpoint in Darlington


Police are appealing for information after an 81-year-old man was robbed at a cashpoint in Darlington yesterday.

Elroy McArthur, of Forster Street, Darlington, has been charged with robbery and remanded in custody.

He will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The victim, who had his £110 pension money taken, was shaken but unhurt in the incident in Corporation Road, Darlington, at about 9.40am yesterday. The money has since been recovered and returned.

Witnesses are asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident reference 71 of March 23.
