Police collection helps rescue dogs have a very merry Christmas

RESCUE dogs are set to have a very merry Christmas thanks to kind-hearted police officers.

Today (December 21), officers and staff visited Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Darlington to hand over food, toys, bedding and treats that have been collected over the past couple of months.

PC Steph Field, who works in Darlington’s safeguarding team, started the collection and has been absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of donations, both from people in the force and from members of the public.

There have been so many donations made that PC Field has decided to help another worthy cause this Christmas – half of the donations have gone to the Dogs Trust, while the other half will go to Stray Aid in Coxhoe.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated – because of you, there will be some very waggy tails this Christmas!
