Police officer receives 10th 'Wow! Award' for excellent customer service

A police officer has received his 10th ‘Wow! Award’ for excellent customer service.

PC Robert Simmons, of Durham Constabulary, has received 10 nominations from members of the public for ‘going above and beyond.’

His most recent nomination came from a woman whose debit card was stolen while she was out shopping at Aldi, Bishop Auckland. She hailed him as an "outstanding officer" who "worked tirelessly to find the perpetrator and kept me informed every step of the way."

Another nomination thanked him for "restoring a child's faith in life, in the police and in justice," and another said "when a person is struggling with law breakers and needs, really needs, help from the police, his kindness meant so much."

Speaking of the praise, PC Simmons said: "Often for the people that we speak to, it is the first time that they have had any dealings with the police and I always keep that in mind and treat everybody the same. It is about listening, understanding and being personable.

"You have to remember that this victim of crime could be your mother, your father, your brother or your sister.”"

Well done Rob! 👏
