Teddy bear hunt to keep kids safe

A TEDDY bear hunt has been launched in Bishop Auckland as part of a scheme to keep children safe.

A total of twenty bears are being hidden in shop windows at Tindale Retail Park and Bishop Auckland Town, each of which wearing a sash with a key safety message.

Community Cohesion Officer Abigail Hill said: “The aim of the game is for shoppers and their little ones to locate all the teddy bears and make a note of where they found them on our entry forms.

“The idea is to spread some important safety messages to help keep people safe during the busy Christmas shopping period.”

Participants can pick up entry forms from Bishop Auckland Police Station.

The competition begins this Saturday, November 24 until January 3. Entrants will be entered into a prize draw to win gift vouchers and the winners will be notified on January 17.

CCO Hill said: “We think it’s a fun way to learn key educational messages for all the family. It’s free to enter and we hope lots of people get involved.”

Drop off completed forms at Tesco Customer Services, Pets At Home, The Salvation Army, Peacocks or Bishop Auckland Police Station.
