Three arrested after cannabis grow found in Chester-le-Street

Some great work this weekend from our officers from Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit…

While on routine patrol on Saturday afternoon, the officers noticed a pungent smell coming from a disused building on Front Street, in Chester-le-Street.

They forced entry and discovered more than 500 cannabis plants of varying sizes inside. They are believed to have a street value of tens of thousands of pounds.

Three men, aged 27, 32 and 33 were arrested on suspicion of the production of cannabis. They were interviewed by officers and have been released under investigation.

The plants have been seized and enquiries into the drugs are ongoing.
