 Witness appeal after biker and pillion passenger injured in collision


​TWO people were taken to hospital following a collision between a motorbike and a van on Saturday.

It happened at 10am on the eastbound carriageway of the A690 between Belmont overbridge and junction 62 of the A1(M) and involved a Kawasaki ZR 750 and a white Citroen Relay panel van.

Both the rider of the motorcycle, a 55-year-old man, and his pillion passenger, a 53-year-old woman, were taken to University Hospital of North Durham following the collision. The woman suffered multiple injuries.

The 30-year-old driver of the van was uninjured.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. They would also like to speak to anyone with any dashcam footage of the vehicles which may help the investigation.
