Witness appeal after two car crash


​Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision on the B6282 between Middleton-in-Teesdale and Egglestone which has left a woman with serious injuries. 

It happened at 6.15pm yesterday (Monday, May 15) and involved a Renault Clio and a Kia Picanto.

The Clio was travelling towards Barnard Castle when the driver – an 18-year-old woman from Middleton-in-Teesdale – collided with the Kia which was travelling in the opposite direction. 

Both drivers were trapped in their cars and were released by County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service.

The driver of the Clio was airlifted to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.    

The 58-year-old driver of the Kia, from Forest-in-Teesdale, was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital but is not believed to be seriously injured.
